The Challenge: A seed corn production facility needed seamless integration between their SAP enterprise system and plant floor operations to enable real-time data exchange and improve production visibility.
How we solved it:
- Collaborated with their corporate IT department to establish secure communication protocols between SAP and plant floor systems
- Established a secure DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) with an Ignition DataOps platform to handle MQTT and API integration services
- Implemented BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface) requests through MQTT protocol for reliable, lightweight data transmission
- Developed API connections to facilitate bidirectional data flow between enterprise and operational systems
- Connected the DMZ DataOps platform to the plant floor Ignition system through Gateway Area Network (GAN) architecture for secure data transmission
- Created real-time data synchronization between production operations and enterprise resource planning systems
